Clapham Old Town: 2016 to Present
We have been working with this lovely family since 2016. The garden was originally planted with Buxus and Pittosporum evergreen topiary through most of it.
It was very formal and lovely but high maintenance with clipping and feeding and a lack of flowering interest.
With the onset of the Box Tree Caterpillar problem, we decided that the time required to keep the Box healthy, in addition to the ecological implications - made keeping the Buxus unsustainable.
It was an exciting opportunity to change the visuals of the garden and to introduce more pollinator-friendly colour.
Previously the only colour in the garden was a small amount of purple but with new planting, including Salvia x Jamensis 'Natchtvlinder', Geranium 'Ann Folkard', Geranium x oxonianum, Digitalis purpureum, Bidens, and small informal hedges of Lavender Angustifolia 'Munstead', we have reduced the formality of the space and created a more 'Cottage Garden-style' of planting. We have retained the formal lawn and clean edging, as well as the four Pittosporums.
A lovely project that continues to evolve...
Client testimonial (2020)
"I can't recommend Benny highly enough.
Always professional, hard-working and punctual.
He knows what we will love in the garden and makes it look beautiful. Always goes above and beyond; he happily has the kids planting beside him so also teaching the whole family."
